Steve Moore - Cinematic Horror: Whispers from the Well

Steve Moore released a new album last week that I only discovered last night by accident. Cinematic Horror: Whispers from the Well is a deep dive into sonic spectral hauntings as only Steve Moore can provide. I'm not really sure what the deal with this album is or how to purchase it. Published by Sonoton Music, you can access it on the usual streamers or on their site HERE. It's not on Moore's Bandcamp, and I can't find anything written about it, so I'm not sure if these are completely new compositions or if this might be a culling of Moore's work from previous OSTs I am not familiar with. I have all his Joe Begos stuff and a large chunk of Zombi in my library, but looking over his credits, there's a lot more I can't wait to get to know, starting with this.

Watch:

I saw a poster for Mark Fischbach's Iron Lung recently, and was surprised when I saw the trailer:

Major Panos Cosmatos vibes off this, so I'll definitely be catching it in the theatre when it opens on January 3oth. Even more absurd - after typing that last sentence, I picked up my phone and went to order tickets only to find that almost the entire Thursday 1/29-1/30 screenings are sold out. Clearly, I am behind on this...

Playlist:

Mountain Realm - Stoneharrow
Imperial Triumphant - Imprints of Man
Imperial Triumphant - Goldstar
The National - High Violet
The National - I Am Easy to Find
The Besnard Lakes - ...are the Ghost Nation
Meg Myers - Sorry
Deftones - private music

Card:

Taking a break from Jonathan Grimm's Hand of Doom Tarot (which you can buy HERE), as my Tarot work independent of these pages has led me back around to Crowley/Harris' Thoth deck:

• 0: The Fool
• 10 of Cups - Saitey
• 7 of Cups - Debauch

Beginning again can lead to fulfillment, but be sure to see where to stop.

Not really sure where this applies - work maybe.

2018: August 9th

New Author & Punisher up for Pre-order on Relapse Records HERE. This guy continues to baffle and amaze me with his post-apocalyptic insanity.

I have heard many good things about Channel Zero and it hits Shudder today, so I'm looking forward to that.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I recently started a re-watch of Deadwood, as K has never seen it and the news of the forthcoming movie caused quite a stir in me. I've begun re-watches before, but never made it very far. Thus, I've actually seen the first season enough to know a lot of it intimately. What's my favorite scene?

Al Swearengen may just be my favorite character ever. As dark as the show can be, it keeps a smile on my face almost the entire time.

New Sandman Universe #1 acquired and read, although it wasn't a very good read, rife with distractions as it was (my own fault). A good set-up for what is to come, which I must admit I'm still excited about. I've avoided this whole Doomsday Clock thing that has merged the Watchmen with the DCU proper - I'm not necessarily against the idea of the Watchmen being placed in the DCU, I just don't really care and have heard it's not very good. The Sandman Universe however, is apparently something I cannot ignore.

Playlist from 8/08/18:

Soundgarden - Superunknown
Emma Ruth Rundle - Marked for Death
Drab Majesty - The Demonstration
The Fixx - Reach the Beach

Card of the day:

So this is either me suffering from wishful thinking that Please Believe Me will be finished today - I just can't seem to nail the tone for the end of this but I am so close!!! - or it's a problem of over imagination, which could be gumming up the works on the ending. Either way, I have some work cut out for me today.

2018: February 19th 4:40 AM

Another song by The Veils greets me as I break the waters on this side of consciousness:

Playlist from Sunday, 2/18:

Windhand/Satan's Satyrs - Split
Windhand/Cough - Reflection of the Negative
The Body - No One Deserves Happiness
The Body - I Shall Die Here
Chrysta Bell - We Dissolve

Card of the day:

Overindulgence as a way to mask or meditate pain or problems. Too much booze or smoke, too much imagination not enough reality. Hmmm... doesn't sound like my current state, unless we count the fact that I was so irritated yesterday morning that I smoked at like 10 AM. Rare, but not unheard of on a Sunday. It was absolutely a tactic to attempt to squash the open loop in my head keeping me grumpy, and it worked to a degree, but it also did not interfere with anything that I can think of, as I do not smoke often and the reason for this is typically that I know pot yields a state of mind that is not conducive to writing (much to the contrary of what I thought back when I first began to seriously concentrate on writing). Yesterday however, I partook early enough that by 6:00 PM I was able to have a pretty successful writing session, although I had some trouble keeping my tenses straight in two chapters where I had bafflingly switched to present tense.

I'll just take this pull as a bit of a comment on yesterday and be done with it.
