12 Days 'til Halloween
I know a lot of folks are up in arms about Michael Graves' political leanings. Being a person who dislikes staunch adherence to either party, I feel like there are good people on both sides - although these people are the ones who definitely get noticed the least, as they're not running their mouths preaching the kind of hate and intolerance now trafficked in on both the Left as well as the Right. Either way, I haven't ever looked into Mr. Graves' political philosophies because I don't care. I love the two records he did with the Misfits and after that, well, for me he just fell off the face of the planet, which I am 100% okay with. I rewatched George A. Romero's Bruiser recently, and the Graves-era-Misfits make a cameo in, and the bonus features on the disc reminded me that the late, great Mr. Romero directed this music video for the band. How absolutely perfect, no?

I'm nearly finished with David Cronenberg's novel Consumed. It is fantastic. Seriously, so interesting and unnerving. Conceptually, it's another "How did he even think of that?" which is pretty common for Cronenberg. The idea that he's adapting this for a Netflix series makes me super happy, and here's a short I found online that looks like a dry run at the idea for translating this novel to the screen. Starring Evelyne Brochu, from Orphan Black.
Yeah. The story is creepy AF and a return to the body horror genre Cronenberg defined in the 70s/80s.

2018: June 27th
Finished Orphan Black last night. Wow. Great ending. Really satisfying. I mean, we're not talking Six Feet Under or Breaking Bad here, but really good. Loved this series. The above track was in the fourth to final episode, at Felix's Gallery show. Good stuff. I'll miss these characters A LOT. That said, coincidentally enough, this comes out today:
Comic adaptations that continue shows we love are hit and miss and even as good as they can be (Dollhouse), they're not the original. That said, I can't pass this up just because of the seemingly crazy synchronicity of K and I finishing the series a few weeks (at least) after SSN 5 hit Prime one day before the first issue comes out.
Playlist from 6/26:
The Besnard Lakes - The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse
Radiohead - Kid A
Portishead - Third
Chromatics - Night Drive
Perturbator - The Uncanny Valley
Card of the day:
From the Grimoire: "Emerging victories from a trying time; big change; think things through."
Pulled this right before a friend at work walked in and expressed concern about a situation taking place. He keeps talking about jumping ship (my metaphor, not his, but the sentiment's there). I told him thought he should hang tight and assess, which this Pull backs up.

Union. Duality. Harmony within. Uniting opposites or complimentary aspects. I'm not entirely sure how any of this applies to me currently; what I've listed is very surface reading, so I could dig a lot deeper. Not on a Monday, though.
