And Another New Queens of the Stone Age Animated Video for "Kalopsia"
I'm posting these last two out of order, but I was out of order yesterday, so I'm behind.
New Queens of the Stone Age Animated Video for "Keep Your Eyes Peeled"
Cannot wait for this record!!!
Dillinger Escape Plan Interviewed by Metal Injection (ow!)
Continuing DEP week. Purchased my copy of One of Us is the Killer this afternoon. I LOVE it - possibly my favorite DEP record since 1999's Calculating Infinity. Possibly. @7:30: "It''s like We Are the World,", this record - exact reference I would have used.
Primus - Live 1987
Not great, but insanely good sound considering it was probably recorded with a hand held. I don't think I even know what this first song is.

Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity (full)
The Masterpiece. I love all their albums, and I love Greg on vox, but this a classic.
Dillinger Escape Plan w/ Original Singer Dimitri Cover Slayer
Again, and this time it's worse, the sound just isn't there on this. But you see why I posted it.
I've been scouring the youtubes for classic DEP footage with original singer Dimitri Minakakis, but that's going back to the very early oughts and there just doesn't seem to be a lot of footage of those days that's GOOD.
Queens of the Stone Age Perform New Song "I Sat By the Ocean"
On Jools Holland. I confess, I have no idea who Jools Holland is. You can go to Pitchfork here and also view the band performing another new song, "My God is the Sun" on the same show.
Dillinger Escape Plan w/ Mike Patton 2002 - Covering Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You"
Continuing Dillinger Escape Plan week in honor of their new record having been released today (I HAVEN'T GOT MINE YET!!!).
The audio's not great on this - from where it was recorded the guitar is too loud and a horribly muffled mid-range blah, and the camera angle leaves a lot to be desired, but still, awesome to see them doing my favorite Justin Timberlake song w/ Patton.
New TV on the Radio!!!
Props as always to Mr. Brown for sending me this one. Awesome!!! Can't wait for the new record.

Dillinger Escape Plan - Sunshine the Werewolf
In honor of their new record, One of Us is the Killer, dropping tomorrow I do proclaim this week Dillinger Escape Plan week (I guess I should have started it yesterday, but if you work for a living Monday's really the start of the week, isn't it?).
I'll be posting clips all week my friends. Starting with this gnarly live one of Sunshine the Werewolf from 2004's Miss Machine, the band's first album with Greg Puciato as lead vocalist (former singer Dimitri Minakakis left after 1999's MASTERPIECE Calculating Infinity). Is this my favorite track on Miss Machine? I don't rightly know, but I love it dearly.
Al.B.Sure - Night and Day
Never having been into this song before I can assure you, I am as surprised as you are that ever since my friend Ray played this in his car a couple of months ago I have become infatuated with it. There is no irony at work here, I legitimately have fallen for this song.
New Record by The Fall
Their 30th record!!! YowzA! Titled "Re-Mit"(via Brooklyn Vegan)
My favorite track by this band will always be:
That song is just INSANE when it kicks in fully.
The Rolling Stones & Katy Perry - Beast Of Burden
I never would have guessed I'd wake up at 430AM to find this, but that's that. Weird, but makes sense based on the way the Stones are handling things for this tour.
2 New Queens of the Stone Age Tracks via CoS
Went up at some point yesterday. Go to Consequence of Sound to read about the why's and wherefore's.

Sunday Slayer - Christ Illusion
My wife interviewed Tom Araya when this record came out. I remember being psyched that A) Mr. Dave Fucking Lombardo was back in the band and B) Mr. Rick Fucking Rubin was back in the producer's seat. It did not disappoint then, and in pulling it out for the first time in a couple years I remember (my go-to Slayer records being Live Undead, Decade of Aggression and Reign in Blood - I really need to hunt down another copy of Show No Mercy).
And you know, I'm not one for stupid internet memes, but...
Mario Cotto, Hana & Larry Gus
Well, they may have taken my Rollins show off Saturdays but Mario Cotto's still on Midnight to 3AM and he is known to bring the noise. Just spun this and I fell in love.

Mark Millar & Frank Quitely's Jupiter's Legacy
I really dug issue #1 of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely's Jupiter's Legacy. Read my review on Joup here!
Black Flag - New Song Video: The Chase
This is a hell of a lot better than that last Black Flag song they released a couple of weeks ago. My verdict is still out on this though.

The Boredoms - Acid Police
For years I believed the song title and assumed he was saying "Acid - Police". Now I think it sounds more like "Asshole Portishead".
But I like Portishead, Yamatsuka!
Killing Joke - Love Like Blood
The song that got me into this band circa almost ten years ago. Rather late, still better than never. We all know they were a big influence on metallica, but me thinks motley crue as well - main riff to dr fullfood clearly taken from/inspired by this song.

Edgar Wright's The World's End
Watching this I realize I've somehow fallen into a place where I take Edgar Wright's movies for granted. This reminded me how awesome they are.
Gary F$&king Oldman stars in Video for David Bowie's The Next Day
...and Marion Cotillard. And is that Tilda Swinton, or do I just have her on the brain because of the The Stars (are out tonight) video from a few months ago? This is the work of the same director, Floria Sigismondi, who I'd not realized until now directed 2010's Runaways film, basd on the band of the same name*. I'm becoming quite the fan of Ms. Sigismondi's work, and this new Bowie video is a great example why. She moves in a very particular way within the setting - it's almost dream-like. The Next Day is wonderfully strewn with blasphemy and, did I mention, GARY OLDMAN!!!
Also, I should add NSFW, which appears to be becoming the new music video paradigm?
New Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings
They've been off my radar for a while but between 100 Days, 100 Nights and the unbelievable work-for-hire the band did on the late Amy Winehouse's blow-up (but still remarkable) Back to Black I became a quick fan. As has been my mantra while I work on my novel, this isn't exactly where my mind is at right now, but I can still spin it once, love it (I DID!) and pass it on!

Jello Biafra & the Guantanamo School of Medicine - Mid East Peace Process
There's always room for... oh, no. That's lame. But this song is most definitely NOT!
PVT - Homosapiens
New PVT! I got wind of their new record a couple months ago but couldn't find anything about it on their labels website. It fell off my radar and now I find that the freakin' thing came out about the time I was researching it. WTF?!? Oh well, at least it's here now.
Special thanks to my good friend Jacob for turning me onto these guys.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Mermaids
Video that was shot at LA's Henry Fonda Musicbox back in February. String section and children's choir provided by Silver Lake Music Conservatory.

The Rolling Stones + Tom Waits: Little Red Rooster
First Mick Taylor. Then the Echo. Now Tom Waits. The Stones are really making a run at the 'cool factor' again.
It's working.
Queens of the Stone Age - I Appear Missing Video... kinda
Video for, um... 3 minutes of a new Queens song that is actually 6 minutes long. SO, I'm not sure if the video is parsed like the song and there's more a'coming, or if this is a promotional thing. Either way, NEW QUEENS!!!
Once again, I'm re-posting via Brooklyn Vegan, read what the masters have to say about this here.
SHELLAC nearing completion of new record! YAY!!
Thank to Brooklyn Vegan for posting this. Excellent Italian Greyhound was FANTASTIC, and I am well past needing a new record from these guys.
This is a pretty awesome interview.
"You don't want to be shown up by Uriah Heep." Not possible Steve, not possible.
Flaming Lips - You Lust
The Flaming Lips - You Lust (NSFW) from Delo Creative on Vimeo.
Weird. Creepy and um... wow.
I should definitely add NSFW. I find it interesting that the visual component of this band has become almost almost as regularly intense as their sonic side. Might we see a video for every song on The Terror?

No Joy - Hare Tarot Lies
Could have done without the puking, but very interesting video and great song.
Ryan Gunwitch-Black's Comic Tension: The Kickstarter
Ryan Gunwitch Black's Kickstarter for his independently created comic Tension. Looks outstanding. He keeps a great blog here.
The Muppets Perform Slayer's Behind the Crooked Cross
Still reeling from the loss of Jeff Hanneman earlier in the week I went looking for some clips and found this. Amazing!
Hilarious! Reggae Version of megadeaf's symphony of destruction
This is amazing!!! Mr. Brown just sent this to me, immdiately upon hearing it I knew I had to repost it for everyone's comedy enjoyment. I HATE megadeth. I HATE dave mustaine (not mortal hate, but you know, he's just such a fuckin' wanker). I especially HATE everything from this stupid album, the album where he looked at metallica's then newfound commercial success and said, "ME TOO! ME TOO!". At least w/ larsy-poo and crew you can see how, after making a technical masterpiece like ... And Justice for All, who wouldn't want to step back a bit and simplify the operation. You know, call in a big producer like Bob Rock and have a go at it. But Mustaine, ugh. countdown to irrelevancy is such a forced attempt. And he drew up the characature he would enforce as his brand logo and even went so far as to go back and re-record the vocals for the four good (and two magnificent) albums he'd created up to that point. metallica might have sold out, but mustaine became a fucking whore and now twenty years down the line the responsibility of that has eaten away his brain and caused him to become a complete right-wing fruitloop. And as such, when I see people lob intelligent criticism or witty insults his way, I laugh and give a thumbs up. That's what we have here. Nice work Andy Rehfeldt, nice work.
Johnny Marr & Andy Rourke Perform How Soon is Now?
Whoah.
You can get the full details about this show on Brooklyn Vegan here.
If you listen to the excited roar of the crowd at about 0:47 secs, just as Marr introduces Rourke, you can hear the fact dawning on them they are about to witness something amazing. I admit - I'm not usually one for reunions and I only got into the Smiths about five years ago, but once I 'discovered' them they became one of my favorite bands of all time. Just hearing this while I type is giving me chills. And of course this track is a classic - even before being a Smiths fan this one meant something to me.
I'd still wager no matter what we'll never see these guys joined by a certain Mr. Morrissey, so this is probably as close as we're ever going to get.
But then, I've been wrong many times in my life. I'd like to be wrong about that.
Thanks to Brooklyn Vegan for posting this and making my day pretty much within moments of my waking up.
